Hill Tech Solutions celebrates ten years in business this week, and we’re very proud to have reached this milestone. Enduring and thriving for a full decade in any industry is difficult, but amid the constant and rapid changes in the world of information technology, the challenges are even greater.
It would be nearly impossible to recap the changes we’ve seen on various technological fronts over these ten years. While the first documented ransomware attack actually dates to 1989, ransomware still wasn’t on the radar screen for many businsses in 2015 when we launched. Compare that with the spiraling number of breaches today – a 75% increase from 2023 to 2024 alone, according to one report – and you can begin to understand how our world has changed.
In the wider tech world, the Apple Watch was a new thing in 2015, and Tesla began experimenting with self-driving vehicles. Google reorganized under the Alphabet umbrella, and Instagram exploded, surpassing Twitter in monthly users.
Hill Tech Solutions was a one-person operation with five clients when we opened our doors. Now, a team of eight employees serves 35 active clients, and we’ve just purchased the building we’ve occupied for a decade to allow for future growth.
As our team and our mission have grown, we’ve been able to do more for the community around us, including philanthropic work with Harford Community College and multiple charitable organizations, the establishment of an internship program with HCC, and speaking appearances at many educational events for regional organizations.
We’ve been honored to receive multiple awards over these years, including a place on the prestigious Channel Futures NextGen 101 list for three years running. In acknowledgment of our service to the community, Hill Tech was named a Harford Award recipient in 2023.
While Hill Tech continues to address the unique needs of businesses across a wide range of industries, we have also developed specific expertise in the new CMMC 2.0 standard affecting organizations that interact with the federal government. Hill Tech Founder and Principal Consultant Ron Hill has achieved multiple certifications related to his own expertise in helping these organizations achieve compliance, most recently the Lead CCA certification.
What hasn’t changed since 2015? Our commitment to staying abreast of both the ever-changing technological landscape and the ever-changing threat landscape, and the proactive attention we pay to each client.
