Ron Hill, Founder and Principal Consultant of Hill Tech Solutions, has earned the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) designation.
Established by the International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2, the CISSP certification is recognized worldwide as the most esteemed cybersecurity certification in the profession. This is in part because of its emphasis on not only practical skills and on-the-ground implementation, but a leadership and management component focused on a functional understanding of spearheading and managing the implementation of strong cybersecurity strategies.
The CISSP designation reflects up-to-date, real-world knowledge of the cyber landscape, and requires a combination of intensive study, prior education and work experience. CISSP is acknowledged globally as confirmation of effective cybersecurity skills on a variety of useful levels.
Earning CISSP is a multi-step, multi-year process with a prerequisite of five years of relevant full-time employment in at least two of eight cybersecurity domains covered in the CISSP body of knowledge. The test itself takes about six hours, involving some 250 questions across all eight of those domains. Because of that combination of prerequisites and the rigorous exam itself, those who successfully complete CISSP are considered among the elite in their field.
Hill says, “There are any number of certifications available in our industry, but for me the CISSP stands out because of its focus on not only the ‘nuts and bolts’ of the fast-changing cybersecurity picture, but its emphasis on the leadership and management skills required to implement successful strategies. I know that the time and effort put into earning the CISSP will benefit Hill Tech Clients as we help them properly assess and mitigate risks to their data security.”
